Melbourne Victory 4 - Wellington Phoenix 0  Melbourne Victory's four-nil win against Wellington Phoenix at Docklands Stadium as Australia Day drew to a close puts the reigning champions two points clear at the top with three games to play. Games to come involving two of its rivals for this season's honours will determine who holds the position at the end of the campaign, but Melbourne's form looks ominous with three wins from its last three outings, amassing twelve goals along the way .. Perth Glory 2 - Wellington Phoenix 0  Perth Glory leapfrogged Wellington Phoenix on the Hyundai A-League standings and all but booked themselves a play-offs spot on 22 January, as they conquered the Kiwi combination 2-0 before 9,368 spectators at ME Bank Stadium .. Central Coast 1 - Gold Coast 1  The visiting Gold Coast effectively ended the Mariners finals hopes with a 1-1 draw at Gosford last night in hot beach-like conditions. The game was lacklustre in the first half heat, with the Gold Coast not shadow of that which performed in Sydney last Sunday; whilst the Mariners urgency for a win was evident but a plan to achieve it was not .. Melbourne Victory 6 - Perth Glory 2  Mid-season signing Robbie Kruse netted a first-half hat-trick as a rampant Melbourne Victory over-ran an outclassed and pedestrian Perth Glory 6-2 on yet another substandard Docklands pitch on Saturday evening. Referee Srebre Delovski and both coaches considered whether to start the match on a ground in obvious poor state following an earlier Docklands event .. Adelaide United 1 - Central Coast 1  Adelaide United came back to draw 1-1 with visitors Central Coast Mariners at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday in front of a healthy crowd of 10,156. Wellington 3 - North Qld Fury 0  Wellington Phoenix took a giant step towards securing a spot in the Hyundai A-League play-offs on 15 January by recording their third win on the bounce in overcoming North Queensland Fury 3-0 at Westpac Stadium, a result which sees them edge past the elusive thirty points barrier .. Newcastle Jets 3 - Melbourne Victory 2  The Jets have established themselves as a genuine title threat after a courageous 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory at a very hot and humid Energy Australia Stadium. Central Coast 1 - Nth Qld Fury 1  A draw was not what either team wanted as Central Coast Mariners and North Queensland Fury ended 1-1 on a hot night in Gosford. Wellington Phoenix 3 - Brisbane 1  A debut double-strike from Wellington Phoenix's new striker, Eugene Dadi, earned the former Perth Glory man's new club a first-ever victory over Brisbane Roar on January 9, as Wellington delighted the 8,927 fans present at Westpac Stadium by kicking off the new year with a 3-1 win .. Jeremy Ruane reports from NZ National Youth League: Round 19 Central Coast Mariners 2 - AIS 0  Central Coast Mariners have returned to the top of the National Youth League table, after an unconvincing 2-nil victory over the Australian Institute of Sport at Gosford. Brisbane Roar 2 - Nth Qld Fury 0 Brisbane have returned to the winners circle, beating North Queensland through a Sergio Van Dijk brace in front their biggest crowd since Round 1: 11,530 Roar faithful turned out to watch the win, more than double the turn out for the game prior days prior. Be it midweek football or simply the attraction of ‘God’ visiting the state capital for the first time, the atmosphere was the best it has been all season ..
