Melbourne Victory 4 - Wellington Phoenix 0 Melbourne Victory's four-nil win against Wellington Phoenix at Docklands Stadium as Australia Day drew to a close puts the reigning champions two points clear at the top with three games to play. Games to come involving two of its rivals for this season's honours will determine who holds the position at the end of the campaign, but Melbourne's form looks ominous with three wins from its last three outings, amassing twelve goals along the way .. Central Coast 1 - Gold Coast 1 The visiting Gold Coast effectively ended the Mariners finals hopes with a 1-1 draw at Gosford last night in hot beach-like conditions. The game was lacklustre in the first half heat, with the Gold Coast not shadow of that which performed in Sydney last Sunday; whilst the Mariners urgency for a win was evident but a plan to achieve it was not .. Wellington Phoenix 3 - Brisbane 1 A debut double-strike from Wellington Phoenix's new striker, Eugene Dadi, earned the former Perth Glory man's new club a first-ever victory over Brisbane Roar on January 9, as Wellington delighted the 8,927 fans present at Westpac Stadium by kicking off the new year with a 3-1 win .. Brisbane Roar 2 - Nth Qld Fury 0 Brisbane have returned to the winners circle, beating North Queensland through a Sergio Van Dijk brace in front their biggest crowd since Round 1: 11,530 Roar faithful turned out to watch the win, more than double the turn out for the game prior days prior. Be it midweek football or simply the attraction of ‘God’ visiting the state capital for the first time, the atmosphere was the best it has been all season ..
