14/07/2008: The Qantas Joeys U16 squad have started the ASEAN region Football Federation Youth Championship with a 2-1 win over Bahrain in Jakarta, Indonesia. Victorian midfielder Kamal Ibrahim scored Australia's opening goal with NSW midfielder Jared Lum adding a second from the penalty spot. Australia romped to the top of the standings beating hosts Indonesia 6-0 here at the Stadion Lebak Bulus. They then defeated Malaysia 4-1 and drew 1-1 with Singapore. The Joeys met Bahrain again in the final on Saturday 19 July and drew 1-1 AET, winning it after a nail biting 5-4 sudden death penalty shootout. The tournament is vital preparation for the AFC Under 16 Championship, to be held in Uzbekistan in October.

12/07/2008: Australia's Olyroos were stretched by the New Zealand Olympic side in their 3-2 win at North Sydney Oval today. Two goals by Mark Milligan and one by Kristian Sarkies overturned a brace from Jeremy Brockie.
Australian Women: Matildas
12/07/2008: The Australian Women's team, the Matildas, reeling from a 0-5 demolition by China in a friendly international in Tianjin during the week, drew on more experienced players (including sadly retiring Di Alagich) to defeat a very combative New Zealand 1-0 at North Sydney Oval today.
A-League: Trial
Central Coast Mariners 3 - Newcastle Jets 0 With only a week until the A-League PreSeason Cup kicks off the clubs are completing their trial games. Central Coast went to Canberra and tested themselves in a second pre-season Grand Final Re-run against against Newcastle Jets.
