22/12/2006: The 2007 Asian Champions League draw was made tonight and A-League teams have tough draws. Adelaide United appear to have the better group in G, with opponents Gach Dong Tam Long An from Vietnam, Seongnam Ilhwa FC of Korea, and Shandong Luneng Taishan FC (China); with Sydney FC in E to face Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan, Shanghai Shenhua (China), and Indonesia's Persik Kediri. The group stage kicks off on March 7, 2007, games being played on Wednesday's home and away, and the winner of each of the seven groups will progress to the quarterfinal stage (September 19 and 26) where reigning champions Jeonbuk Motors join the competition. The semifinals will be held on October 3 and 24 and the two-legged Final is scheduled for November 7 and 14.

20/12/2006: The Qantas Socceroos will play their Asian Cup pool 'A' matches in Bangkok, Thailand, in Asia's biggest football tournament - the finals of the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. The tournament draw was held tonight in Kuala Lumpur with Australia (FIFA ranking 39) being drawn in Group A alongside Iraq (83), Oman (72) and co-hosts Thailand (137). Australia will play their first match against Oman on Sunday 8 July 2007 and then will take on Iraq on Friday 13 July 2007 and Indonesia on Monday 16 July.

A-League with four rounds to spare in the final game before Christmas, thrashing the beleaguered New Zealand Knights 4-0 in the last match at
Olympic Park to the delight of the jubilant 15,500-strong crowd.
