Controversial Dismissal Mars Historic Melbourne Derby

History was made in the National Soccer League this weekend, as the competition saw its first indoor match take place.

And it’s as well the roof on Melbourne’s Colonial Stadium was in place for the clash of local rivals South Melbourne and the Melbourne Knights, as it kept a lid on the tempers which were raised by referee Craig Zetter’s controversial dismissal of South’s Steve Iosifidis half-way through the first spell, an action which overshadowed the Knights’ 1-0 victory, a triumph afforded them by Steve Horvat’s goal on the stroke of half-time.
