Series - Week 9:
Tonight's Homeart
National Soccer League Championship Series match between The NSL has been
monitoring conditions throughout the week at North Sydney Oval and
held a final pitch inspection today in conjunction with representatives
of North Sydney Oval and Northern Spirit. The persistent rain experienced
throughout the week has left a large volume of surface Championship
Series - Week 8: Parramatta Power
failed to 'kill-off' Northern Spirit after leading 2-0 at half-time,
which was needed for their grand final hopes, and despite dominating
much of the game, allowed Spirit to graft back two late goals for
a 2-2 draw.

- Week 6 On another rain
soaked evening at North Sydney Oval power house Perth Glory once
again stamped their class on the NSL Finals series with an exemplary
display against Northern Spirit. Playing with all the composure
befitting a table topping team the Glory boys did nothing they did
not need to as they systematically tore the locals apart. For all
the huff and puff of the Spirit side Glory just played their patient
methodical and frankly superior game to claim all the points in
what ended up as an effortless 3-0 win.
Championship Series
- Week 5 Another wet Friday
night at North Sydney Oval. Another Adelaide City victory. Simply
stated it was another disappointment for the hardy Spirit fans,
just 2,350 of them now, who had braved the wintery showers to turn
up for what was the second home game of the Finals' series. There
were first half chances for both sides and the visitors were playing
their usual smart game, taking few risks and keeping possession
as much as possible. Their counter-attacking abilities have been
well documented and they relied on those once again to eventually
overhaul the locals
Championship Series
- Week 4
A scoreless draw at Newcastle did little for either United or for Spirit as referee centred drama unfolded. Newcastle finished half a game with ten-men after keeper Beltrame was sent off, and Spirit made four substitutions. Spirit missed the chance to move to 2nd with Olympic's loss. Finishing At Home Takes 3rd Parramatta Power's
finishing at home continued against Northern Spirit with the 5-1

was the difference. R25:

Grab Finals Spot
A jittery Northern Spirit side defeated their cross-town rivals Marconi Stallions 2-1 this evening in what was a typical derby fixture played with fervour and passion. The North Shore team is now assured of a place in the illustrious ten week Championship Series, which begins in a fortnight. As for Marconi, their thirteenth loss of the season is unwelcome news, given that the Stallions are desperately trying to avoid collecting the wooden spoon for the first time in their rich twenty-six year history. Half Adelaide Treble Sinks Spirit Three second half
goals from a tenacious Adelaide City Force side stabbed a dagger
through the heart of a desperate Northen Spirit tonight at North
Sydney Oval. With a much
coveted Championship Series place on the line, the home side took
the early initiative through a Bradley Groves cracker, before surrendering
three goals in the second stanza, two to veteran Claudio Pelosi.

Spirit Falter As Mori So Close To 200
In front of 9979

inches of scoring his 200th NSL goal. He hit both the crossbar and
the post, but still managed to score 2 as Glory easily accounted
for a poor Spirit side. R18:
Spirit Hold Onto Glimmer Of Hope A sweetly struck
Noel Spencer rocket was all the difference in yet another hard fought
and fervent derby fixture at North Sydney Oval. The makeshift skippers
timely strike lifted the Spirit off the foot of the league and restored
some pride to Sydney’s north. R17: South Consolidate
Third South Melbourne defeated Northern Spirit by the only goal of the game to consolidate third place in the NSL Ladder on Sunday evening at Bob Jane Stadium. Billy Damianos - celebrating his one-hundredth game for South - scored in the fifth minute, but despite significant pressure from the home side, South could not increase the lead due mainly to some goalkeeping heroics from the Sydney-siders' Paul Henderson.
